Questions

What is Yoga?
Yoga is an ancient art and science from India originally designed to strengthen and align the body as well as quiet and focus the mind for meditation.

The word yoga means, literally, "to yoke or join." In the practice of yoga, we join and integrate the mind, body, and spirit into one aligned and cohesive unit.

Yoga is not about the final pose; it is about the transformation you go through to get there.

What is Rahini Yoga?
Rahini Yoga, often called the healing yoga, is a unique blend of Hatha, Kundalini, and Tibetan yoga asanas or postures.

For more detailed information on Rahini yoga philosophy and principles, you can visit their website at http://www.rahiniyogah.com

Do I have to be flexible to do yoga ?
No. Yoga teachers instruct people how to modify poses or use props to suit your individual body type. If you have any specific issues or concerns, you can discuss these with your yoga teacher before or during class.

The practice of yoga is not competitive, and everyone is strongly encouraged to work at their own pace within their own abilities.

Yoga is the process of becoming who you truly are. Along the way, you will become stronger, more flexible, centered, and joyful.

What are the benefits of yoga ?
The practice of yoga creates physical, mental, and emotional confidence and stability.

Yoga has a profound impact on the emotions. What most people notice is that it is both relaxing and revitalizing at the same time. They experience improved mental focus and inner peace.

Yoga helps develop postive self-esteem, improved body image and a more comfortable, realistic view of yourself as you learn to honor your body and appreciate all that it does for you.

Yoga postures or asanas are both anti-aging and anti-gravity as they help maintain the suppleness and youth of the spine. These asanas also improve posture and develop better coordination and balance.

Yoga promotes better circulation, can relieve chronic ailments, and increase bone density.

Specific breathing techniques called pranayama invigorate the entire body-mind system and allow for deeper relaxation and improved meditation. Both are powerful tools for reducing tension, stress, and anxiety.

Why do we practice yoga?
"
Yoga is the effort to experience one's divinity personally and then to hold on to that experience forever.

Yoga is about self-mastery and the dedicated effort to haul your attention away from the endless brooding over your past and your nonstop worrying about your future -

So that you can seek instead a place of eternal presence from which you may regard yourself and your surroundings with poise.

Only from that point of even-mindedness will the true nature of the world and yourself be revealed to you."
